Tis The Season..

'Tis the season' to be busy! I have really been slacking on my blog the last few weeks. I have been busy with school programs, christmas parties and shopping! I'm happy to say that I have finished my Christmas shopping and can finally relax and update my blog! Braxton had his third grade Christmas program which was very entertaining. They sang a number of Christmas songs and played a song with their recorders.

Last year we started a new Christmas tradition with the Mickelsen's. We all get together to have dinner one night and afterwards we decorate gingerbread houses with the kids. I love this tradition. The kids have a blast designing their houses with icing and candy. When they are finished they are pretty proud of their creations!

I'm excited for this week! The boys are out of school and we have lots of things planned to do. One of our favorites is making sugar cookies together. The boys love decorating them and taking them to family and friends. Another Christmas tradition that we enjoy with the Mickelsen's is putting the star up on the Red Knoll and going for a wagon ride. We also have a Christmas Eve party with my family that has been a tradition for as long as I can remember. It has always been at my Aunt Carole's house in Gunnison. The kids favorite part is after dinner when we have a special visit from Santa!

O Christmas Tree!

Sunday we went up in the mountains to find a Christmas tree. The weather has been so nice lately that there wasnt much snow. That's good because we got to go farther up the mountain to find a tree.

The boys had fun just sliding down the road.

Searching for the perfect tree.

This is the one! Look how excited Joby is to have his pic taken.

I love this one! Check out Odie in the back trying to be in the pic!

Weekend fun!

We started the weekend off with shopping on Saturday in Provo. I had my list all ready and knew exactly what I needed. My sister met us in Provo and took the boys to her house to play with their cousins. We then headed off to Toys R Us. I was so happy when we found everything that was on my list there. It's a good thing Joby was with me because I seriously have the hardest time making up my mind. I wanted to buy everything there! Our next stop was Sam's Club. CRaZy! It was nuts in there! We didn't spend to much time in there. We got our stuff and were on our way! Next stop was the Provo mall to get Joby a new phone. He surprised me when we got there and told the salesman that we both needed new phones. Yay! After we got our new phones we headed to Lehi to pick up the boys. We decided to take the boys to Temple Square to see the lights. The lights there were, as always, beautiful! I forgot my camera so I had to use my camera on my phone. The pictures arent the best quality, but you can still see how pretty it was there.

So thankful..

This is definitely the most wonderful time of year! I love Thanksgiving! Spending time together with family is something you can never get enough of. I have so many things that I should be doing today to get ready for tomorrow so this is going to be a short post.

I'm so blessed to have two healthy and happy boys in my life. Slade told me today that he was thankful for his family and heavenly father. I don't think it gets any sweeter than that. I'm thankful for a caring husband that works hard for his family everyday. I'm so thankful for my parents, to have them in my life and to have them living so close to us. I'm thankful for my sister and brother and their families. It's nice to know that I can always count on them when I need to. I'm so so thankful for both of our families. They are the best. Happy Thanksgiving!

"The Right Stuff"

Stop laughing, you know you loved New Kids On The Block too...when you were in middle school..lol! Yes, I went to the concert last weekend in Salt Lake. I went with my sister and two of her friends. That was probably the loudest concert I have ever been too. I'm thinking it was because more than half of the audience was girls and when they screamed it was very high pitched. My ears were ringing all night. I was very impressed by New Kids, they still had it! The dancing, singing, and making the girls still scream. Natasha Bedingfield opened for them and she was awesome! I love her music. My favorite was probably when New Kids sang their old songs. I could still remember the words. I even had Jordan Knight, the barbie doll when I was younger. Go New Kids On The Block...LOL! Thanks to my Sis, Jen , & Jen for a way fun night!

9 Years!

Yesterday was our nine year anniversary. WOW... how time flies. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband. He is truly my best friend.
The song that is playing (I do, cherish you) I know is sooo old, but it was the song at our wedding when I walked down the isle. And I still love it. The pics describe us well. We like to have fun and just be silly together!

Trick or Treat!

Mason and Slade

Mason, Braxton, Gage, and Slade

Halloween fun...

Last week was a busy but fun week! Monday we went to the corn maze. The boys had a lot of fun. Slade was our leader and I have to say he did a pretty good job finding our way out. Tuesday was our ward's Halloween party. We had dinner and played carnival games. Slade had his preschool Halloween party on Wed. and dressed up as a boney pirate! Every Halloween the boys love to carve pumpkins. So of course we carved pumpkins! They turned out to be some pretty scary looking pumpkins when they were done!

Maui, HI Oct. 2008

Our trip to Maui was amazing! I took tons of pictures and still don't think I took enough. The scenery there was beautiful. We went on a hike up to a 380 foot waterfall. On the way up there we went through Bamboo that was thick and tall. It was awesome. We went parasailing, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, and to a wonderful Luau. I couldn't believe how clear the water was when we went snorkeling. There was so much stuff to see. We went to a snorkeling spot where there were huge turtles all around. On the fishing trip I was sick the whole time. I can officially say that I've been "sea sick" now. But it was pretty exciting when Joby caught a fish. And of course we spent some time on the beach. One of the best times was when me and Heidi laid out on the beach and watched Joby and Kevin trying to surf...lol. We had such a great trip and I'm hoping we'll get to go back again!

Thanks!

Aloha!! We arrived home from a week vacation in Maui, HI!! I have tons a pictures and all the details I will post soon, but I just have to thank a few people first! My sister, Amber. She got reservations at a hotel in Maui (right on the beach) for us and it was beautiful. All we had to do when we got there was check in. It was awesome! She also tended Slade for the whole week while we were gone. He had so much fun that he told her a couple of times he wanted to live in Eagle Mountain with her. She had activities planned for him to do everyday. And since she has three girls she had one day where she had her neighbors little boy come over and play with him. She even emailed me pictures of Slade one day! I really had no worries while I was gone! It was so nice! She tended Braxton on Thursday and Friday because he didn't have school. Friday she took them to Lagoon and Saturday she brought the boys to the airport to see us when we got off the plane! I'm pretty sure I have the best sister in the world!! Thank you so so much Amber!! I love you!

Also I want to thank my mother-in-law for tending Braxton while we were gone. She got him to school in the mornings and made sure he got his homework done. Thanks! Thanks!

And thanks to my mother and Ashley for taking Braxton up to my sister!

And I need to thank my brother-in-law Jeremy for taking us to the airport at five in the morning so we didnt have to leave our car at the airport! Thanks!

We've moved!!

Wow!! It's been a long few weeks and I can see I need to update. We just sold our house and moved. And I must say that I hate moving!! I can't believe how much stuff we have! People keep asking me, why do you build and move so much? Well my husband builds houses and we build and stay in them for about 2 years and then sell and build again. Eventually we will have our last house paid for. After this last move I dont think I want to do it again. We are renting a house in Redmond while we build ours. We have been searching for lots either in Salina or Redmond... did I just say Redmond? Yes, Joby wants to build in Redmond, of course that's where he grew up.. I grew up in Salina so I can't even think of living in Redmond..lol. Actually I think I kind of like Redmond so far. I thought I would be making several trips to Salina and back everyday but it hasn't been too bad.

Finally...I'm updating...!

OK so i guess I've been slacking a little. The last few weeks have been busy for me. You would think since I'm a stay at home mom I would have lots of time..well that's what I thought too but it seems like I'm more busy now then when I was working full time.. But I wouldn't have it any other way, I love staying home with my precious little boys......

A little bit about our boys....

Braxton is a little on the shy side. It takes him a while to warm up to other people. Slade is totally opposite. Wild, wild, wild is a good word to describe him. They both love riding their motorcycles, camping, fishing, going to the lake, and making jumps for their pedal bikes. Slade loves to do everything Braxton does. Of course, that's what big brothers are for!

I'm a blogger now! My sister and friends have been telling me this is the thing to do now so here I am.

I married Joby Mickelsen and we have been married for almost nine years..wow! We have two handsome little boys. Braxton is eight and will be going to third grade this year. Slade is almost five and will be going to preschool.

Joby has a construction business with his family. He has been working with them for about thirteen years. We have built two houses since we have been married. We are getting ready to sale again and build our third.

I am a stay at home mom and love every minute of it. I love being able to spend all my time with my boys. They keep me busy!

Well that's my first blog post.. kind of the short version of our family... remember I'm new at this so it might take me a while to get it right.
